Okay, I just read through the whole story to date, and I gotta say, Bidi confuses the **** out of me. I mean, here I am, thinking she's just an illiterate pyromaniac psycho, but then she rebuilds a truck from scrap with little but a welding torch. and THEN she goes on to steal a VTOL Jet, without (it seems) any training or experience. Not only does she fail to crash the jet immediately, or cause the engines to overheat, but she then goes on a pair of successful bombing runs and take out a hostile fighter with a missile fired in dumbfire mode. And the whole time she seems to be hallucinating.

And Bodie. Jees, that guy is dumb. I'm kinda surprised he didn't get duped out of his ride a lot sooner. I mean, any old chick could have hitched a ride, convinced him to got to the hot tub to wait, and then either locked him in or flushed him, then taken off with his, er... come to think of it, I'm not exactly sure whet to call his vehicle. But how'd he manage to keep it to himself?

Also, regarding the Ordinance Arsenal and stuff: if the government put all that stuff there, then where'd all the military personnel go? And why was the door unlocked? They usually tend to keep expensive stuff like that behind at least a couple of reinforced doors and under heavy guard as well as lock and key.

And the ammunition... on page 85, Bidi says "Okay we have nine millimeter... some .308 and forty fives and plenty of grenades for entertainment purposes". So, the 9mm I understand. That's a pretty common pistol round. the .308 was mentioned earlier in regards to Joey's riffle. But this is a military base. The military aren't likely to carry large boxes of commercial .308 rounds, since they tend to use the NATO standard 7.62 x 51mm ammunition, which is, of course, intended for use in semi-high-powered precision rifles. And then there's these mysterious "forty fives". Now, if you were to poll a bunch of firearm officianados and ask them what a "forty five" is, they'd almost certainly mention the .45 caliber pistol rounds or perhaps even the Dirty Harry style .45 caliber Magnum rounds. But there's a problem with that. Firstly, I don't think we've seen any weapons that use the .45 caliber and secondly, I don't think the military would be likely to carry them (though I could very easily be mistaken on that point). Either way, what the military WOULD have, almost for sure, is the 5.56x45mm NATO rounds, which are used in most common assault rifles, most notably the M16. But I've never heard of those being referred to as "forty fives". Yet, judging by the boxes she chose, the inclusion of the 9mm rounds, and the lack of anything that looks like a .45 pistol, I have little doubt that she means the 5.56x45mm. But why would she call them "forty fives"?!?

Umm... That's all I can think of to rant about at the moment. Well, that and the nanobots. But it would take all day for me to list all the problems there, so I'll just leave it for now.

First off it's a comedy so let's don't be so serious huh? heheh

Bidi's air combat was all a dream, or hallucination. She would have crashed and burned right away if it was real.

Bodie's tundra crawler was the first nuclear powered land vehicle built right before the war started. It scoops in snow for use in its two turbines. That's why you always see steam coming out of the back when it's moving. It has to be so large because of the amount of radiation shielding.

Delta Colony was a makeshift base slapped together in the confusion of a zombie epidemic. I wouldn't consider it a military base because the military had already collapsed at that point. Delta Colony was under attack from a herd of cannibals when Joey's group arrived. Almost everyone was killed and eaten with the exception of Lola and Doctor Langston, so all the guards are dead.

.308 Winchester is one of the most popular rifle calibers in the world to this day (not just the US Military). If I were to choose only one rifle caliber to use in the zombie apocalypse I would choose the .308 first because of accuracy and availability of ammo. The 7.62×51mm NATO and .308 are also interchangeable. Joey is not in the military and never has been.

.45 refers to the .45 ACP cartridge which has always been called "forty fives". The US Military used this cartridge in the Thompson Submachine gun (M1921) and the M1911 pistol which is still in use to this day (I own two 1911's). The .45 was officially replaced by the 9mm in 1986 but because of its popularity, the .45 is still being used. Joey's 2 submachine guns that she wears on her thighs shoot .45 acp.

Dirty Harry never used a .45 magnum as you stated, he used a .44 magnum, the most famous of which was the Universal AutoMag in "Sudden Impact" (which is a unreliable piece of crap. I know because I own one and the firing pin keeps breaking) He also used a .44 Magnum Smith & Wesson Model 29 in other movies. There was a cartridge known as the .45 Winchester Magnum but it never became very popular and is now considered "wildcat".

Medical nanorobots will be a reality by the time this comic takes place. You should read up on it because it's interesting stuff.

.45 ACP is also the standard ammo for the M3 "Grease gun". I actually got to qualify with the cumbersome, ugly thing -- back in the 80s it was standard issue on the M60A3, and as the driver I was stuck with carrying the damn thing around. When it was time to qualify though, and got to shoot it on the range, i gotta admit it was a lot of fun, made it worth it.
DizzasterJuice 25th Apr 2015, 6:48 PM edit delete reply
Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. The grease gun was the replacement to the Tommy gun. I bet that was a blast to shoot.

interesting critique
DizzasterJuice 23rd Apr 2015, 11:44 AM edit delete reply
I have no problem with valid criticism, but this guy should have done some research to try to get the facts correct first.
SquallLion 24th Apr 2015, 4:43 AM edit delete reply
i agree. but that is still an interesting critique
